A young man gets on a bus, carrying a backpack, reading a book and chewing gum. Then a woman gets on. She hands him a piece of paper, and he quickly writes something on it. She gets off at the next stop and throws it away. What happened?

She is deaf, and when he chewed his gum it looked like he was trying to talk to her. She handed him paper to write it down. Little did she know that he was a soap opera star. He thought she wanted his autograph and he gave it to her, but it meant nothing to her so she threw it away.
